She graduated with her master's degree in special education for the visually impaired from Northern Illinois University in 1992 and completed additional course work to gain certification in rehabilitation teaching. She has worked in the field for over 15 years. Jennifer was the recipient of a MACRT scholarship while attending NIU. She served as MACRT treasurer from 1994-2000 and was the past President.
